
The Women's Organisation were invited along with other partners to the Inauguration Conference of the European Network of Mentors for Women Entrepreneurs in Warsaw, Poland. The conference was organised jointly by the European Commission and the Polish Presidency of the European Union to bring together the 17 countries involved in running the mentoring projects for women entrepreneurs including; Albania, Belgium, Cyprus, FYROM, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Montenegro, the Netherlands,Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Attending the conference on behalf of 'We Mentor Uk', the project being run in partnership with The Women's Organisation and NCEE, were mentor and former business start up client of the organisation Sylvia Walker of SW Associates, and Chair of the board of directors for The Women's Organisation Pat Shea Halson.The delegates were invited to take part in seminars looking at female entrepreneurship in Poland and the role of mentors and ambassadors. The conference culminated in a presentation of diploma certificates for the mentors from each country to mark the inauguration of the mentor network. We Mentor UK is a European mentoring project that aims to provide guidance and support for women entrepreneurs to further grow their business enterprise.
The project will link mentors and mentees according to sector, skills, need and preference. Mentors and mentees will be able to work together both in person and through our comprehensive e-mentoring systems to share experiences and build an action plan.
Throughout the course of the project mentees will be given opportunity to:
• Reflect on their own business performance and examine principles of business practice
• Develop strategies for business growth
• Learn from the practices, culture, ethos, communication and procedures of another business
• Enhance their personal development, building in confidence
• Build on personal and professional networks for business opportunity
• Access shared business resources
